Router changed, now laptop won't connect internet (dsl, email, flash)

My laptop, which is running Windows Home Vista, previously worked fine to connect to the hot spot for internet service, and still connects to a neighbor's router running 802.1g security. But it will not connect to the new router wi-fi hot spot in my house, although it will connect if hard wired to it.
I called my internet provider and their tech verified that all of my laptop settings are compliant with what they require for the new router. He said that the .11n security is compatible with the older security on my laptop, and that I needed to get a new driver or card hardware to upgrade my laptop so it would be accepted by the new router.
So, do I have to get an upgrade to my laptop?

Please help.

I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
