Egypt FishingI – Fishing at Lake Nasser :
In the 1960′s the famous high Dam was built on the Nile at
Aswan, the resulting Lake Nasser has flooded over 6,200 square kilometers of the Nile Valley, creating second largest artificial Lake in the world. The fish population of the original river was presented with a huge lake to live in and have thrived in their new habitat, especially the Tilapia and their predators, Nile perch, Tiger fish and the big Catfish.
Lake Nasser has the best Nile perch fishing in the world, when your lure is in the water you literally don’t know if the next fish is going to be 1 Kg (Kilo Gram) or over 80 kg. Nile perch are the main target species but the lake also abounds with the hard fighting Tiger fish and the big Catfish.
Aside from terrific angling, the lake is a lovely place to visit. It’s a magical wilderness of stunning desert scenery, bordered by the clean water of the lake, which is dotted with rocky islands; there is an atmosphere of tranquility, vastness and adventure; a wilderness where anglers literally have hundreds of square miles to themselves.
The shoreline is a variety of desert landscapes, hilly and rugged, or flat and sandy with clean freshwater beaches. The weather is usually sunny and bright; in five years we have never needed to take shelter from any rain (shelter from sun is needed though).
* Important notes
Loose, fragile rocks pose the greatest personal hazard on the Lake Nasser shoreline; as a matter of precaution, always wear shoes and always look where you re walking. Take care when shore fishing and wear shoes with a good grip / sole.
It is always advisable to go shore fishing with another person if you are going out of sight of camp. Don’t swim while you are shore fishing. There is always a slight risk of crocodiles who might not have been scared off by your quiet approach!
The lake is remote and thinly populated by peasant fishermen; the local residents are Bedouin camel and sheep herdsmen who are occasionally seen grazing their flocks on the sparse vegetation at the edge of the lake.
There are an impressive variety of birds, mammals, and reptiles. More than 100 species of birds have been recorded: Wild duck,
Egyptian geese, pelicans, herons, egrets and various species of hawks, kites, falcons and eagles will be among the birds seen.
In most areas there are crocodile and monitor lizards, other types of wildlife include gazelle, Jackals, desert Fox, and various smaller desert mammals.

Season 1: From February to end of July: From approximately mid March through to the end of July the Nile perch are found in Shallow water.
Season 2: From Mid October until end of January: The lake is at its highest level and the Nile perch are found in deeper water. If you want to capture big fish then season 1 is your best bet. Season 2 will provide you with more action and fun but the average size of the fish capture tends to be smaller.
II- Fishing at Red Sea & Gulf of Suez:
Red Sea is “active” almost year round, making it one of the most interesting fishing destinations on earth; especially if compared to other, more “seasonal” destinations. Probably relative calmness, diversity of species, rich bottom structures, and the warm climate contribute to this.
Red Sea and Gulf of Suez fishing trips range from day charters to 7d/7n non-stop safaris. Longer time not only means more time to enjoy fishing and better chances to catch, but also possibility to reach remote and more rewarding fishing spots.
Depending on take-off point (e.g., Hurghada, Sham El Sheikh, Marsa Alam, Gulf of Suez, or wild south,) some good fishing spots may be as close as 2 hours or as far as 6 hours from the marina. As with most water bodies on earth, early morning and late afternoon are known to be exceptionally rewarding on the Red Sea.
For Gulf of Suez charters, boats take off around 7:30am and return to marina at 5:00pm (winter) or 6:00pm (summer). For Red Sea charters boat typically takes off at 9:30am and returns to marina at 4:30 (summer and winter) on same-day trips, and or return at 7:00am on safaris.
