End of Alaotra Grebe

Painting of the Alaotra grebe by Chris Rose

Alaotra Grebe (a waterbird from Madagascar) is officially extinct, This beautiful bird is gone forever. It's a sad day.

this bird was a celebrity (in books, magazines, cartoons...) and known as " Dodo ", you know the expression ‘Dead as a Dodo’

Alaotra Grebe is one of many flightless waterbirds that became extinct either by human actions or by the introduction of predators that came along with the arrival of people to their islands.

Comments :
this planet is being irreparably abused and pillaged, and this event is well timed with the huge ecological disaster going on in the Gulf of Mexico
there is something positive we still can do!
The world’s rarest Madagascan Duck, the Pochard needs all of our help right now! please save this specie.
every single loss of any specie (bird, mammal, insect...) disturbs the complex web of life and renders it more vulnerable to disease, pestilence and lead to more extinctions.
As for me I like the idea of this research paper and I think I will extend this topic
