Overview
If you’re looking for a vehicle to represent class and upscale living the 2010 Mercedes-Benz C-Class may be the right type of car for you. The C-Class provides attention-grabbing looks and the prestige of the Mercedes brand at an entry level price. For 2010, Mercedes is offering a “Dynamic Handling Package” for its C-Class product line. This package focuses on power, performance, and handling. This will give the vehicle a competitive edge over similar cars in its class.
Technology
The Mercedes brand has prided itself on providing stability and power through its years. The 2010 Mercedes-Benz C-Class posseses one of the most tautly-sprung suspensions systems that has been produced by Mercedes in years. If you’re familiar with the competition, it is even aimed at overpowering the BMW 3-series.
Performance
The Mercedes C-Class is available in 2 trims as a sedan, the 300 or 350 sedan. With these divions, an additional subset is available at a luxury or sport version. For those power hacks, a very high-performance C63 AMG, powered by the 451-horsepower 6.2-liter AMG V8 engine is also a popular option. All the C-Class cars arrive with a rear-wheel drive but an all-wheel drive is also available. Fuel economy isn’t something that is very prized on powerful cars and thus the C-Class averages a 12-18 mpg city and 19-25 mpg highway all depending on the various trims and various pack/versions that one selects. For an interesting and functional fact, all the 300 miles can run on ethanol-blended E85 fuel for those who have that available in their region. The MSRP ranges from $33,600 to $39,750. The previously mentioned Dynamic Handling Package includes the following: specific 18-inch wheels, active suspension, and steering-wheel shift paddles on cars with the automatic transmission. Significantly, this is not all, an optional AMG P31 Development Package includes a 174-mph top-speed limiter and 30 additional horsepower, bringing the total to 481 horsepower.
Exterior
Looks and exterior feel is something that the Mercedes brand prides itself upon. Specifically, the 2010 Mercedez-Benz C-Class is a sharp, attention-grabbing, and bold vehicle to suit your luxury needs. The C-Class Luxury models arrive with a traditional upright grille proudly displaying the signature three-pointed star hood ornament. On the other hand, the sport models have the brand signature on the grille itself, an honor that is usually reserved for the Mercedes’ coupes and convertibles.
Interior
Like the exterior, the interior is something that a Mercedes car is never lacking in; especially in the case of the C-Class. An interesting system called COMMAND is available in the vehicle. This system offers access for the driver to control all of the vehicles electronic features from single easy-to-use interface. The C-Class is a five-seater which allows for a bit more of flexibility than a lot of the comfortable. In terms of cargo space, 12.4 cubic feet of space is available which is average for its class. New for the 2010 product line is a keyless entry/engine start and a rearview camera. For those who love a little more high-tech class in their vehicles, other available features include a navigation system which includes a hard drive for storing digital-music files, bi-xenon headlamps, and 60/40 split-folding rear seat and more.
Safety
The C-Class received 4 stars in government crash test ratings for front impact tests and 5 staras on side-impact tests. Reason being is that the car comes equiupped with dual-stage front side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags, whiplash-preventing active front head restraints, stability control, traction control and antilock brakes with brake assist are standard, as is a brake drying system that keeps rotors dry in rainy conditions for improved braking on wet days. For those who are even more safety buffs, a Pre-Safe system is available which detects panic stops and helps increase safety by locking seatbelts, boosting brake power, and readying air bags.
Reliability
Mercedes-Benz is a brand that prides itself on prestige and reliability. The C-Class is covered by a four-year/50,000-mile warranty.
